So, I live far away from America and sometimes I like to know what's going on in America and the rest of the world. I am a regular checker of foxnews.com . Every time I scan the headlines I think, "I am never checking this again...nothing good ever happens." There seem to be days when it's mild news or even good news to read about. But, there are days when I read them and just when I think it can't get worse, it does. More school shootings, innocent children being harmed, serial rapists. I have decided that I no longer check the news before I go to sleep because I lay there and think that there is nothing good left in the world.
I often play this quote in my head. It is from an old school Steven Curtis Chapman song (Heaven in the Real World) and I think this is Billy Graham speaking as the music plays and the song is about to start.
"I meet millions who tell me that they feel demoralized by the decay around us. Where is the hope? The hope that each of us has is not in who governs us or what laws are passed or what great things we do as a nation. Our hope is in the power of God working through the hearts of people. That's where our hope is in this country. That's where our hope is in life."
The power of God is great and it is working in the hearts of people. There is hope.
