His name is Jesus

I woke this morning pondering The Savior. He can be referred to as "The" because He is the only One. No other religion worships God who came to sinful man to redeem and save. I began thinking about a conversation I had with a friend several years ago. (This conversation impacted my life so much, I still think about it often and I remember weeping uncontrollably that night after it was over.) My friend was empty from the religion of his father. He was beyond the end of his rope and had attempted and I think was still contemplating ending his life. He told me that night that mine was "easy". Meaning the religion I practiced, because there was nothing we had to do to reach God. Good understanding, huh?! I was very new to engaging spiritual conversations and remember being completely awed by how the Holy Spirit had guided and given me words, just like "they" said he would. In a sense, mine is easy. It takes faith like a child to believe that there is nothing I can do to get to God. He loves me, created me to worship Him. I am sinful and separated, but in His love, He sent Jesus to reconcile me to Himself. How hard is that? He doesn't want my works. He wants my heart, a heart that worships and a relationship that flows out into my life.

But, mine is easy? I think not. I have some new friends who would whole heartedly disagree because for them, mine is the most difficult thing they could ever do. It means turning their backs on their beloved families and everything they've ever known. That's not ease. But, The Savior, He is good, holy, righteous and love. His name is Jesus. Still not easy.

So, to that friend, if you happen to be reading, His name is Jesus. He is The Savior and there really is nothing you can do to get to Him. He came to you.
