Bastille Day

I engaged in some French pride to celebrate the national holiday. Parades, picnics and fireworks! It was only 10 days after America's Independence Day,so I was able to pretend I was getting in on a little 4th of July fun.

For a mini history lesson...
Bastille Day

July 13-outside my window. I watched several towns' firework shows from my bedroom window!

The Parade on Champs-Élysées

Fly-over

They dropped some folks out of parachutes!

We camped out to wait. This is my view as I was laying below the Eiffle Tower.

The lights went out...

And then fireworks!

This was my favorite. :)

Choas trying to get home...I'm not sure I've ever been in the same place as so many people. No exaggeration.

...since you probably a) didn't watch as much tv as I once did and b) probably don't have the insane ability to remember the most random details that I do, I'll point this out:

I was alluding to a great snickers commercial a while back. There is an old man painting the end zone for the "Chiefs." A big, ol' fat offensive lineman-looking guy walks up eating a snickers and says, "that's great! but who are the Chefs?" At which time we get our first glance at the entire endzone. The painter left of the "i."

After the "not going anywhere for a while? grab a snickers," the commercial ends with the old man saying "great googly moogly!"
